Gandhi's House In South Africa Sells For Megabucks.

It is being widely reported, so we are not going to repeat the story. But we did find this interesting nugget in the article – Indian Government owned Coal India Ltd lost in the bidding fray. “The matter concerns national sentiment and I will leave no stone unturned to acquire the property and declare it a national monument,” coal minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said in Delhi.

Really? Wouldn’t Gandhi have preferred that the money go to alleviating poverty? And is this the best use of taxpayer money?
